Polyethylene is stiffer than other materials making installation more difficult in backyard water gardens. When purchasing a backyard pond liner for smaller backyard ponds, we recommend EPDM Pond Liners. Large ponds require a pond liner that is safe for fish and plant life, inexpensive, easy to install, and durable enough to last twenty years or more, making Polyethylene pond liners the ideal pond liner material for such applications.
Polyethylene Pond Liners are extremely UV stable and are able to withstand temperatures from 180°F to -70°F. Polyethylene Pond Liners are backed by a twenty-year warranty.

Pond Underlayment is recommended for all pond liners, especially Firestone PondGard EPDM liners. Pond Liner Underlayment is available in 5', 10' and 15' widths, but you can use it to accommodate any size pond by simply overlapping multiple pieces with no seaming required.
Pond liner underlayment makes all pond liners puncture resistant, protects pond liners from sharp objects in the soil, stabilizes ground under the liner to keep liner from over-stretching and resist settling unlike newspaper or sand.
